Symptoms of Stroke
Stroke remains the third leading cause
of death in the United States
Increasing public awareness of the symptoms
of stroke is vital!
A 1996 National Stoke Association/Gallup Survey on stroke awareness in the United States revealed:
- Among adults 50 years of age or older, 38 percent did not know where in the body a stroke occurs
- 17 percent could not name a single stroke symptom
- 19 percent were unaware that there are things you can do to prevent a stroke
- Only 40 percent would call 911 immediately if they were having a stroke
